Candle Care

Get the most out of every burn

A little care goes a long way. Follow these steps and your 3-wick will burn evenly, cleanly, and fill your whole home with scent.

The first burn matters

Let the melt pool reach the edge of the glass on the first light — usually 2-3 hours. This prevents tunneling and gives you every hour of scent throw.

Trim before every burn

Trim each cotton wick to 1/4 inch before lighting. Long wicks cause soot, smoke, and an uneven flame.

Burn 2-4 hours at a time

Never burn longer than 4 hours in one session — let the wax cool completely before relighting.

Know when to stop

Stop burning when 1/2 inch of wax remains. The residual wax protects the jar from cracking.

Safety first

  • Never leave a burning candle unattended
  • Keep away from drafts, curtains, pets, and children
  • Burn on a heat-safe, level surface
  • Extinguish with a snuffer — blowing can splash wax
  • All GooseCreek candles meet US CPSC and ASTM F2417 safety standards

Storing candles

Keep unlit candles out of direct sunlight and away from heat. Fragrance oils are natural and can shift subtly over time — for the truest scent, we recommend burning within 12 months of purchase.

Cleaning up

Once your candle reaches its 1/2 inch mark, warm the empty jar in a sink of hot water for a few minutes — the leftover wax will pop right out. The glass is dishwasher-safe and makes a lovely little planter, brush holder, or catch-all.
